Towards the close of 2000, another milestone was passed by MetLife Hong Kong: The fifth anniversary of their service to this bustling city and hundreds joined in the celebration. Late September saw MetLife executives raising their glasses to guests at the American Club. Among those toasted was Hong Kong’s Commissioner of Insurance, Mr. Benjamin Tang, JP. Over 200 business partners, brokers and agents attended, including MetLife Hong Kong’s leading sales associate, Mr. Gary Sawlani of Savalani Enterprises.
It was he who brought together prominent members of Hong Kong’s Indian community, a month or so later, when MetLife Hong Kong hosted another anniversary celebration. That this second event coincided with the season of Deepawali was seen as auspicious by all, for it was in many ways a festive gathering of family and friends. For Gary Sawlani, it was an opportunity to express his heartfelt appreciation to the community for their consistently strong support over his long years of service. To mark the occasion, Mr. Richard Wang, President of MetLife Taiwan and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Hong Kong, flew in from Taipei to join the festivities. Mr. Sawlani opened his remarks to the exclusively Indian guests with, of course, warm Deepawali greetings. The sincerity in his voice was, as always, felt by everyone. After all, this was an unusually special occasion for Gary, the chance to address as a group so many of the friends and heads of families he has served individually throughout his 40-year career. For it is his business style to personally tailor the insurance products and programmes he offers, to the specific needs of his clients. |
That style has gained Gary Sawlani a respected reputation, not only in Hong Kong, but around Asia. And so it was that many of those attending MetLife’s Asia-Pacific Region Country Managers Meeting took time out to meet and chat with Gary recently. They had come together in Hong Kong to lay out future strategies for even better, more comprehensive service to this part of the world. Through Gary Sawlani and his son and partner Yeshma, and with the support of MetLife Hong Kong, the continuation of that personal attention and wide product choice is guaranteed. The Indian community of Hong Kong is indeed fortunate to be served through the association of the Sawlanis, their Savalani Enterprises and MetLife Hong Kong. Together they “go beyond the best”, in Gary’s words, to serve the Indian families and businesses of Hong Kong. The proof of this was seen at the Deepawali Fifth Anniversary gathering in Hong Kong. As Gary lifted his glass in a final seasonal salute to his community, the toast was returned, and the room rang out with the greetings and gratitude of all in attendance.
